Timeless Paris

Black & White Digital Capture

Timeless Paris is inspired by a lifelong passion for the French language and culture — first kindled on family stays as a teenager, and renewed on visits to Paris in 2025 and 2026. The images embrace the spontaneity of modern cameras fitted with legacy prime lenses: a throwback to my first camera, the Olympus OM-1, made famous by the great Hungarian-Parisian photographer André Kertész.

About This Portfolio

The series is also inspired by the memory of my mother, Professor Marilyn Yalom, who studied at the Sorbonne and returned to Paris throughout her life for research at the Bibliothèque Nationale. In 1991 the French government decorated her as an Officier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques, awarded for services rendered to French culture — recognizing her scholarship on French literature and women’s history.
